Aliko Dangote remains the richest man in Africa in Forbes latest ranking. Forbes is the American global media company, focusing on business, investment, technology, entrepreneurship and leadership. For the ninth year in a row, Aliko Dangote of Nigeria has been declared as the wealthiest person in Africa,
Dangote remains the richest with an estimated net worth of $10.1billion. This is less than $10.3 billion, the estimated worth of last year. The drop is attributed to a slightly lower stock price for his flagship company, Dangote Cement Plc.
According to Forbes, there are eight billionaires in the 54 nations of Africa. South Africa and Egypt dominate the overall ranking and the top 10 richest people in Africa list. The two countries have five billionaires each making the lists.
Nassef Sawiris of Egypt is the new number two richest with an estimated worth of $8 billion. His estimated worth of last year is $6.3 billion. Sawiris has a stake in Adidas, worth $4 billion. The increase in Adidas’ share price added nearly $1.5 billion to his fortune since January 2019. He also owns a significant stake in fertilizer producer OCI N.V.
