Allen Onyema Lauds the Ongoing Anambra Cargo Airport Project

Chief Allen Onyema is a captain of industry in the aviation sector. He is the CEO of Airpeace.

In an interview with Chief Uche Nworah of  the Anambra broadcasting service on Saturday, he lauds the ongoing Anambra Cargo Airport Project by Governor Willie Obiano’s administration. He was privileged to be among the entourage of His Excellency Chief Dr Willie Obiano that visited the project site at Umueri on Friday.

Chief Allen Onyema spoke extensively on project. ” What I saw there was very marvelling. I never knew that level of work had been put in there. I felt proud to be called an Anambra son.

“The runway is almost getting ready. There is a lot of work on  the topography of the place. Every infrastructure that will make an airport of  international standard  is there.

“There are plans to do runway lighting of highest grade. There are plans to install instrument landing system of top notch so that pilots can come there and land blindly even at zero visibility. So these are what we are yearning for. That airport to the best of my knowledge, by the grace of God, if everything pull through by the way they are  planning it, that airport may end up to be the best airport in African region.

” From what I saw yesterday everything has been provided for, there are places for cargo, places for passenger, everything, there are enough space. And the runway is the longest in Africa. The runway that can land triple 7 and airbus 380 and all that”

On the value chain benefit for Anambra state and  the south east,   Chief Onyema said Anambra needs an airport and aviation is a catalyst for economic development.  “When the airport comes in stream, tens of thousand jobs would be created,” Allen said. Chief Onyema was hopeful that President Muhammad Buhari will give approval for Anambra airport to become an international airport when it starts operation. With the work already in place, Chief Onyema promised to build Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO)facilities capable of carrying major checks on aircraft. Nigeria is lacking in MRO facilities. The gesture will create jobs for Anambrarians and Nigerians.

Further in his expectations is an air show with his private jet and others on the day the airport will be opened.

Chief Onyema wished the Anambra airport should have been built earlier than now as Anambra is in the heart of  Igboland.
