Aliko Dangote has not given up on buying Arsenal FC of England. Dangote’s plan for Arsenal FC may come to fruition in 2021. He reiterates his interest in the English Premier League Giant in a recent interview with Bloomberg.
“It is a team that yes I would like to buy someday, but what I keep saying is we have $20billion worth of projects and that’s what I really want to concentrate on.
“I’m trying to finish building the company and then after we finish, maybe sometime in 2021 we can.
“I’m not buying Arsenal right now, I’m buying Arsenal when I finish all these projects because I’m trying to take the company to the next level.”
Dangote’s interest started in 2018 when he stated he wanted to make a move for the North London club in 2020.
“We will go after Arsenal from 2020, even if somebody buys, we will still go after it,” he told Reuters in 2018.
Arsenal is currently owned by Stan Kroenke, through his Kroenke Sports & Entertainment group. Dangote may have the chance to own Arsenal since the current owner had faced widespread criticism in recent years.
Dangote is the 96th wealthiest man in the world, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaire’s Index. His estimated net worth of $14.1bn. He started his first business at the age of 21 and also founded Africa’s largest cement provider.
