FRSC and a pregnant woman on labour are one of those stories about FRSC that Nigerians want to read. It is not about FRSC on the highways to stop angry motorists for one traffic offence or the other but living beyond expectation in the corps’s mandate in saving lives on the highways. The humanitarian gesture of FRSC was extended to a pregnant woman on labour on Saturday.
According to Bisi Kazeem, the Corps Public Education Officer, the humanitarian gesture occurred on Saturday in Lagos, when FRSC patrol team of RS 2.11- Airport Unit Command of the Corps helped a woman on labour along the highway to a nearby hospital. The pregnant woman was struggling to drive amidst painful labour and was rushed her to a nearby hospital in Ajao Estate where she was delivered of a baby girl barely 3 hours later.
Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps applauded the prompt rescue extended to the pregnant woman on labour and noted such rescue was in line with the true mission of the corps.
The Corps Marshal called on members of the public to always notify the Federal Road Safety Corps any time they come across people in such distress situations and other emergencies for immediate action. The CM advised the public to report such to FRSC Call Centre through the toll-free line: 122 or to the studio of the National Traffic Radio through the telephone lines: 08052998090, 09067000015.
