Eden Hazard has struggled to make an instant impact since moving to Real Madrid last summer, and football fans were left wondering what could be wrong with him.
Playing at Chelsea, there was no doubt of his abilities which was why a switch to Real Madrid last summer was followed with great expectations, but his start to life at the Bernabeu has been hampered by questions over his fitness.
John Mikel Obi who spoke to beIN Sport about Hazard made some wonderful revelations.
‘Hazard has incredible talent.
‘Maybe not as good as [Lionel] Messi, but he can do whatever he wants with the ball at his feet.
‘He didn’t like to train hard. While we were working he was waiting for us to finish training just standing there.
‘But on Sundays, he was always the man of the match, it was unbelievable.’
Mikel suggested that being a lazy trainer may have affected his fitness, and hence the underperformance at the Bernabeu.
The Nigerian international played alongside Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge between 2012 and 2017. Both helped The Blues to win two Premier League titles and the Europa League.
