Suspected hoodlums had on Monday and Tuesday attacked EndSARS protesters across Nigeria . The attack which started on Monday in Edo State and Abuja spread across other other states on Tuesday leaving some protesters dead or wounded. The alleged sponsored hoodlums also burnt some police stations in Edo and Lagos while many cars and houses were burnt in Abuja on Monday
The #EndSARS protesters alleged the hoodlums had been sponsored by Nigeria government to have a reason for chasing them out the street of protest.
Following the attacks by the alleged sponsored hoodlums, some state governors have announced 24 hours curfew to protect lives and property.
Prof Pat Utomi who spoke to Channels TV as eye witness on protesters’ attack by security agents Tuesday evening after the announcement of Curfew in Lagos said while scampering for safety amidst gunshot, the youths were accusing government of sponsoring armed hoodlums on them to get out of the street of protest. Prof Pat Utomi advised Nigerian government on careful handling of the situation , not to escalate beyond control
Prof Chidi Odinkalu who spoke to AIT news on Tuesday condemned using hoodlums on peaceful protesters and likened the approached to what played out in Defoe in 2002.
# EndSARS protest in Nigeria had been a peaceful one across the country for the past twelve days. Nigerian youths had pressed home their demand to end SARS and police brutality in Nigeria. In response the Police IG disbanded SARS but the youths insisted being on the street till other demands on #5for5 are met.
