Donal Trump returned to Twitter late on Thursday after his account was temporarily locked for about 24 hours. The account was locked after he twitted praise for the mob that had ransacked the Capitol, leading to at least four deaths.
The capital mob was instigated by Trump when he told the crowd of his supporters to march on the capitol and reject the election result, and that resulted in violence.
Some high-ranking Trump administration officials wanted to resign following the mob on capital and promotion of what they referred to as “baseless promotion of claims of election fraud,” and Trump’s refusal to accept his loss. Threats of impeachment were to follow this before he apologized on Thursday.
With the return on Twitter, Trump posted a two-minute video that addressed the violence and acknowledged that a new administration would be sworn in on January 20, 2021.
